Sweet Shop Saturday Challenge SSS22

For some reason, I'm really into Christmas cards right now. Maybe it's because the holidays are my favorite time of the year. Maybe it's because my husband has terminal cancer and was just diagnosed this week with Alzheimers, but whatever the reason, it gives me something beautiful and positive to focus on. I flipped it below hoping you could see the beautiful background paper and the foil scrolls embedded in the paper.  I love the black and red combo but I'm not sure about the tan yet.......LOL

This card is for the challenge this week over at The Sweet Shop .  I love the sketch and it didn't take too much time at all to complete.  Here are a list of the items I used to create the card.  I hope you enjoy!

Paper: K&C Winter Wonderland Pack, tan & black are from my stash, the ornaments were stamped on Cryogen paper from the Papertempress; Spellbinders Large octagon Scalloped, Large Octagon, and Classic Scalloped Rectangle small; sentiment is from House Mouse; Offray red ribbon; Swarovski red crystals were used on the ornaments with glass red gems used on the rest of the card; Copic Lipstick (this is a deeper red than the "red") and Pitch Black Spica Pens were from Merriartist; poinsettias were from my stash.

TIP:  I'm sure most of you are probably aware of this but I always have to find things out the hard way. I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment then ran it through the Cuttlebug.  Guess what, the embossing came off and I had to redo it, so I cut the die first, stamped the sentiment, and then heat embossed.

Please leave me a comment and any tips you would like to share.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see  you again soon.

WOJ Challenge #48 & A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge

Oh wow! This was really hard for me even as much as I like layering. I'm sure they are NOT to scale of the challenge but it's as close as I could get.  In all honesty, I really did enjoy this challenge.  But then, I love anything WOJ!  Thanks Heather for this great challenge.

Oops, I put the copics away too late last night and forgot to take a picture for you.  The flowers are prima flowers with bronze brads.  These were the biggest brads I had on hand and too small for the larger flower but I really wanted to get this submitted before I forgot.......lol  The aging process is soooooooo kind!

A shopping on line I went last night to find prima flower centers and ending up finding up way too much other stuff I "just had" to have.  This is really an addictive hobby but I love it and the fact you can shop without leaving the house.

Enough gab from me today plus I need to get working on another challenge, especially since the Chief's lost and football is over for me till next Sunday.
Have a wonderful week and I'll be back soon.

Oops! A missed Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge

Missed getting this card posted in time to make the challenge deadline but wanted to share with you all since I really like the way this sketch turned out.

Below are the copics I used to color the WOJ image from the fall kit. The paper is from my stash and I have no idea where I got it but I really liked those colors. The sentiment is also from Whiff of Joy fall kit.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you stop back by again soon. All comments are greatly appreciated.

WOJ Challenge #47 Update

Sorry I didn't get the post completed earlier, but as I said, it was a ZOO around here today. Would have been an ideal day to be working with my WOJ Animal stamps that have not been inked yet.........LOL

I tried something new by taking a piece of 12 x 12 paper (I just loved the colors in this paper and the glitz), scoring and folding it to make the 6 x 6 card. This kept it from becoming soooooo heavy by the time it was ready to mail and cut down on the time it took to do the inside of the card. Messed up my copic coloring on the inside image and decided to salvage it by just cutting it out with a round Spellbinders die, embossed and matted. The right inside note area was diecut, again using Spellbinders. One thing I just noticed is that I forgot to put leaves around the flowers.........DUH

Stopped in Hobby Lobby today with my 40% off coupon and got another couple of Nesties I just couldn't pass up. While there I noticed that they had their dwarf flower bushes on sale half price so I picked up a bunch of roses of each available color. Tonight I popped the roses off (various sizes on one bush) and cut the leaves off to start using on my cards. I'm so excited because you can add Shimmerz, stickles, dew drops or anything to them without discoloring them.

I've got to try and get a couple more cards done for some challenges I really want to try and get in before the deadline.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you come again soon.

Wedding Invitations

The last few weeks have been pretty busy with finishing up wedding invitations for my grandson and future granddaughter. Of course, Murphy's Law applied in every way possible.....LOL Also included at the end of this post are a picture of the invitation party last Sunday and of the bride and groom.

Brianne chose the colors that will be used for the wedding and reception. If I had a picture of the flower arrangements I would include them, because to me the color scheme is unusual but I love the way everything has turned out and goes so well together. Hope you enjoy!

Text was computer generated; we created our own embossing folder for the scroll used on the band along with the scroll for the invite and inserts using Design Studio software and the Home Accents cartridge. The sparkling merlot mat and bands were made with paper from The PaperTemptress and I'm hoping the copper mat that matches the "G" background on the band shows clearly. Of course, now we can't get the Merlot paper anymore, due to the manufacturer, which I desperately wanted to use for the program folders......... Murphy's Law again!!!! The G on the front band was cut using the Cricut and the centerpiece is cut and embossed using Spellbinders (Sorry, I forgot which nestie). I hope you can see the beautiful color of the folder and the embossing.

Happy Harvesting

Yipeeeee! My second Whiff Of Joy sketch challenge. It's a little varied from Rach's sketch cause that darn mushroom is taller than I thought it would be. My camera is kaput right now so I scanned this card and I can't believe how much brigher the colors are. The pumpkins look red instead of orange but who knows, maybe somewhere in the world there are dark orange pumpkins....lol

A special thanks to
Rach for stopping by my blog and leaving such kind, sweet comments. Also, for the wonderful sketch challenge at the Whiff of Joy Challenge Blog.

The background on the card is done with dried marigold distressed ink by Tim Holtz. The stamps and cut outs are the fall collection by Elizabeth Bell from Whiff of Joy. In place of ribbon I used raffia for the bow. Copics were used for coloring. Sure wish they would host a copic certification class somewhere close. I love using them and would sure like to learn a LOT more on technique.

I'm off to try to get another sketch card done so I can post it before Wednesday. Didn't realize how much fun doing these sketches could be. It's sure a lot easier and faster than me trying to figure out something myself right now. If you haven't tried doing one yet, hop on over to the WOJ Challenge Blog and jump right in.

Thanks for stopping and I hope you come again soon.

Money Folder for Wedding Gift Box

Here is the money folder to go along with the wedding gift box from my post of July 16th as promised. It was just one of those things it took me awhile to figure out.
The folder is trifold and I've added lace with pearls as an accent to match what was used on the box. The bride and groom are from WOJs summer set and were masked and stamped. Copics were used for coloring and to give the dress that sheer glitz look I used Shimmerz and then painted Stickles on his vest for that "matched" look........ Flower soft was used for the bouquet and hair piece with small pearl embellishments added.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.

Sympathy Card for a Dear Family

Finally, I remembered to take pictures of a card before I mailed it. Just received some of my JustRite Stamps and couldn't wait to use them. It only took me all day yesterday to get this done but I put it in the envelope and mailed today.
Here are a list of the items I used for the card: JustRite Stamps from the Thinking of You set; Stampabilities stamp from my stash, Psalm 91.11; Spellbinders Labels 4, Labels 1. and Classic Scalloped Ovals Small; the paper is from Basic Grey Porcelain pad along with Bazilla Fuzzy and Olive; to color in the leaves on the stamp I used YG97 Copic marker; ribbon is Offray Simply Sheer Me Willow; flowers are from Prima; Cotton Candy Stickles to add that extra glitz.

The inside of the card is a note from us and the sentiment is from Stampabilities.

Have a wonderful weekend! I hope you come back soon.

Pip Delivers Presents

As promised, I'm back today with another Christmas card. I fell in love with Pip and just had to have him putting packages under the tree. The paper is from Hobby House. The tree is an Archiver's exclusive from 2008. I stamped in Olive and Forrest Green ink from SU and added red gems. For some reason I just got to have glitz and glimmer on everything.......lol
If you click on the picture to enlarge you can see the glitz a little better.

Pip was colored using Copics and I added texturized paint to his hat then finished off with Simmerz Pixie Dust after the paint had dried. Copic Spica pens were used to color the ribbon on the packages. I stamped the same image on patterened paper then cut out the packages and glued to Pip then cut out Pip and adhered him with a pop dot. The poinsettias on the front of the card are from my stash of last year and I have no idea where I got them. The brads for the poinsettias were covered with Stickles to give them more depth and bling.

I'm trying to get better about completing the inside of my cards so here is a picture of the inside of the card and another picture of the box envelope I made to go with the card.

I've had a terrible time trying to get these pictures in the right place GRRRRRRRRR and guess I'm going to have to spend more time trying to figure out how to get them placed throughout the post in the correct size...........lol I hope you will bear with me while I am learning the ins and outs of blogging.

I hope you've enjoyed your visit and will come back soon.
