Beach Baby's Summer Fun

Our challenge at For Fun this week is to make a water themed card for summer.  I chose digi "Beach Baby" from The Stampin Boutique. Isn't she just the cutest!!!
Be sure to head on over to For Fun to see the fantastic creations by the rest of the Design Team.

Kim over at Crafts by Kim did a tutorial on "Perfect Water". It looked so easy and the instructions were so easy to follow that I just had to try it.  Needless to say, I need more practice.......lol  It's a great technique and one I'm going to use for all of my cards where there is water but I think I'll pay more attention to details next time.  Got a little carried away with the Diamond Glaze so my ocean has LOTS of ripples... The image was colored with copics prior to using any techniques.  I printed out a few copies of the digi stamp then cut out the pail, shovel, and seas shells, colored with copies, and spritzed with Vanilla Shimmerz.  Ultrafine Sand Flower Soft was used for the beach and then the cut out images were glued into the sand with extra FS added so they would look somewhat buried.

Since I've never made a gate card I decided to make one for this challenge.  The DP is from my stash and some I had bought several years ago to make a scrapbook for our watergarden. I've looked everywhere for jute ribbon and finally found it at Really Reasonable Ribbons. Thought it would be perfect for this card. As always, no sentiment was added until I get ready to mail it to someone.

In case ya all haven't noticed, I'm a little bored with what I've been doing so I've been on a mission to learn new techniques and try new things lately.  Oh, how I'm missing my flowers.....so these new ventures probably won't last long. And, just to let you all know, I do not receive free products from the sites I mention in my posts to promote their products. If I like something I see or use, it's just nice to know where it can be purchased is the only reason I link them for you.  I've spent hours trying to find different products on the internet because our craft stores here just don't carry most of these products.  I've been trying to find some of the charms I see on cards but haven't found a site yet for them so if you know of anywhere to get small charms, please let me know.

The fingers are getting numb and I'm probably rambling from lack of sleep again. It's almost 2 am here so that's all from me for tonight.  Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.
Hope you have the time to leave me a comment so I can come visit you soon.

Great card. I love the inside. I put so much thinking into the outside, most of my insides are pretty blank.

Wozers!! I like your image and you certainly made her beachy!! The glitter on your water shows up really nice and congrats on making your first gate card. LOL!! I am giving you this link for charms. They have TONS and their dollar might be lower then yours so bonus for you. Their shipping is fair and prices are reasonable.

Your new technique for the water is amazing and I took the time to go over and read through the link you gave to the tutorial. I like how you followed the theme through to the inside of the gate card, great papers. I know that I appreciate your links to where or how you do things, you've saved me many hours trying to find places.
I hope your enjoying your week with your granddaughter and she's not wearing you out too much.

Wow Carol - the water looks so real and your colouring is superb. Love the design of the card, and the way you've decorated the inside.
